PEN Literary Award Winners

Known for being the most all-encompassing prize of its kind in America, it awards a total of $200,000 to writers in subjects ranging from fiction, to science writing, to poetry. Ta-Nehisi Coates, winner of the PEN/Diamonstein-Spielvogel Award for the Art of the Essay
Hailed by Toni Morrison as "required reading," this much lauded treatise on race in America, written in the form of letters from Coates to his teenage son, has taken home many awards since its publication.
And speaking of Toni Morrison, she was honored with a PEN/Saul Bellow Award for Achievement in American Fiction.
